Jacobsen Hardy Designers Approve Course's Progress

Members of the Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design team, including co-founder Jim Hardy, visited the new Moody Gardens® Golf Course to evaluate the progress of the course’s multi-million dollar comprehensive renovations.

The acclaimed design firm began work on the 6,900 yard, par 72 course in late 2006 with a design that keeps the best historical features of the layout while significantly improving certain holes and overall course flow. This was the design team's first visit to the course since construction began.

"We like what we see," Jim Hardy said. "This is a very playable, beautiful golf course. It's also a more well-rounded facility."

One of the main focuses of the team's visit was to review the growth and maturation of the salt-tolerant paspalum grass that was planted throughout the course. Hardy was especially pleased with the development of the turf on the back nine holes.

"The back nine looks great. It looks like you could play golf on it within a few weeks," Hardy said, adding that weather is a factor on the progress of the course and that work began on the back nine holes prior to the front nine. "It's a prettier golf course because of the landscaping, bunkering and the turf. Every hole has been improved from a playability standpoint."
